In 2015, we offered support and assistance to a Somali family who came to New Jersey via South Africa. The family ultimately moved to the Somali Diaspora in Minnesota, but the experience helped some of us decide that we wanted to do more.
Since then we have worked with several families from Syria, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan by offering either basic material support or cultivating relationships that have become really important to our community. We’ve offered ESL Tutoring, helped pick families up from the airport, provided furniture, food, clothing, driven people to doctor’s visits, arranged for free or reduced cost dental care, and provided many other services. This has become a critical part of our ministry for some of our members. If you’d like to get involved, please contact the church office and find out how you can make a difference in the life of a refugee family today.
