Featuring one of the most famous tenor arias of all
time, Pagliacci has been a staple of the opera world since it premiered to instant success in 1892. Featuring a “play within a play”, the tale of deception, betrayal, and jealousy is a prime example of verismo opera, a style of opera that depicts realistic stories, often with violent passions. By popular demand, our Sanctuary Choir’s section leaders return to sing the title roles of this exceptionally daring and engaging opera. Pagliacci is only two acts long, making it a great introduction to the world of opera for newcomers. A passionate drama with intriguing characters and Leoncavallo’s brilliant music make Pagliacci an absolute must hear!
