Women's Retreat

January 16-18, 2026

In mid-January, 39 women from Union and First Cong met at Trinity Retreat Center in West Cornwall, CT. Katrina, Leah, and Sharon Fennema led us in exploring the theme “Ancient Tools for Modern Times.” These tools included reading scripture from different viewpoints, writing lamentations, smashing pottery, and enjoying a communal scream. (We are not sure how much the resident donkeys enjoyed the scream.) Led by Sharon, we included a capella singing to further express our emotions and connectedness. Some comments from those who attended were: the leaders were an amazing team who worked well together; there is power in releasing anger; God welcomes questions and lamentations and gives us the emotions of anger, sadness, and grief; energy and optimism were renewed; we all need community, hope, and optimism; “best run and content-rich retreat ever!” Thanks to the leaders, organizers, staff at beautiful Trinity Retreat Center, and participants!

UCC Players

Next Show June 2026

Even before Union Congregational Church was built, the spirit of dramatic performance was alive! The storied history of the UCC Players stretches back to the very roots of the church. As far back as the late 1800s, drama groups were associated with the church and were instrumental in bringing the community together and raising funds to build the church.

Fast forward over a century, and that vibrant tradition continues. For over 30 years, the UCC Players have enriched the community with a diverse lineup of theatrical performances. staged readings, and social gatherings. The UCC Players are known for their wide-ranging repertoire, which spans the classics – from Chekhov to Shakespeare – to engaging contemporary works, vibrant musicals, and original plays.

Union After Hours

Saturday, April 18 at 5pm

All ages are invited to join us in the Assembly Room for a chance to unplug from our screens and connect with a shared meal, worship, and games. RSVP at www.unioncong.org/spring or by clicking on the church web calendar listing. Please RSVP by Friday, April 17th.

Chair Yoga

Wednesdays at 10:30am

Come build community through 45 minutes of chair yoga. Seated in a chair, we will move gently, mindfully, stretching, and finding our alignment both internally and externally. Breath is emphasized as is a smile. Modifications are always provided and we move at a pace that is appropriate for all levels and all ages.

Union Sages

Twice a month in the Guild Room, usually the first and third Wednesday at noon.

Sages is a group of older members and friends that meet twice a month for a brown bag lunch and informal discussion of questions and issues that are relevant in that stage of their lives. The purpose of the group is to build community and support by providing a forum for discussion and gathering as a community.

Archives Group

Tuesdays at 4pm

Join the Archives small group – we meet Tuesday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm in the Archives Room on the 2nd floor of the Vincent Building. We are in the midst of a multi-year project organizing Union’s documents, photographs, pictures, and more – all the while sharing conversation, laughter and fun, interesting, and often inspirational facts and lessons from those who came before us.
