Our hike this week will be in Eagle Rock Reservation. We will meet at 1pm at the Eagle Rock Trail Parking Lot. GPS Coordinates are RQ36+R5. Note that this is not the parking area near the September 11 memorial. It is further west, away from the overlook.
We will start our hike on the Lenape Trail along Crest Drive and then pick up the Eagle Rock Trail at the north end of the park. The Eagle Rock Trail takes us along Mt. Prospect Ave and then back to the Lenape Trail and the parking lot, essentially forming a loop. It is estimated to be 3.5 miles long and to take about 2 hours. None of this hike is on pavement. About two-thirds is on gravel and the rest is through wooded areas. There are a few muddy spots that are easy to walk around.
