This Sunday, March 15, we will meet at 1:00 to hike about three miles on the Lenape Trail through Hilltop Reservation in Cedar Grove. Our starting point is on Bowden Road, just south of Highview Terrace. There is on-street parking and we will gather near the crosswalk that diagonally crosses Bowden Road. We will end at the Verona Community Center where Linn Drive meets Bloomfield Avenue. There will be cars to drive hikers back to their vehicles.
This portion of the Lenape Trail is a mix of paved, unpaved (think rocks and roots), and cindered paths. There is an option to stay on paved surfaces for 90% of the hike or to traverse the natural paths along the ridge of Second Mountain. From there you will have great views of First Mountain. First and Second Mountain are part of the Watchung Mountains.

As of Monday, March 9, the trail was mostly dry with only a very few muddy areas. Please dress accordingly.
