Do you ever find yourself questioning God’s role in your life…or your role in God’s universe? Maybe you relate to the Biblical Jacob, wrestling all night with a mysterious divine being, and clinging to him asking for blessing only after experiencing defeat?
For this year’s annual retreat, October 23-25, the men of Union will explore the theme “Wrestling with God: Faith, Struggle, and the Blessing We Don’t Expect.” We will be guided on our journey by Reverend Jeff Mansfield, and we’ll be meeting in the comfortable surroundings of the Christ Center at Crossroads Camp located at 29 Pleasant Grove Rd., Port Murray, NJ 07865.
The retreat is designed for reflection and recreation as we deepen our ties to one another both in themed conversation as well as through the camaraderie and fun of our informal time together. Many of us kick off the retreat weekend by dining together at a local brewpub before checking in to Crossroads. We have an opening evening reception Friday night, free time Saturday afternoon for walks or sports around the beautiful Crossroads grounds, or alone time for naps or private reflection. Then we have a campfire and cookout Saturday evening, and conclude the retreat Sunday morning with a worship service.
