SMALL GROUP DAYTIME BIBLE STUDY - TUESDAYS AT 12:30PM IN THE GUILD ROOM

Come join us for Daytime Bible Study; we meet Tuesdays at 12:30pm in the Guild Room. We are reading Entering the Passion of Jesus. Chapter 4 is titled The First Supper: Risking Rejection.  A woman anoints Jesus at a meal in Bethany.  Both the woman and Jesus are criticized for "wasting" an expensive amount of Nard, but Jesus says that she was anointing him for his coming death, and should be remembered..  The author of Entering the Passion of Jesus is Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University, aka Hartford Seminary.  She is emerita Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School.  . UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST ALL CHURCH BOOK READ - HOW TO BE ANTIRACIST BY IBRAM X. KENDI

All Church Read invites people to ‘spiritual practice’ of being antiracist. The leaders of United Church Of Christ’s Join the Movement Toward Racial Justice are inviting individuals, congregations, Conferences and Associations to join this year’s All Church Read with the book How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi.

How to Be an Antiracist compels us to read and gather for respectful community conversations, listening deeply to our neighbors and working together toward dismantling racism,” said the Rev. Velda Love, UCC minister for racial justice and JTM lead. “The book offers multiple opportunities for reeducation as a way forward toward meaningful conversations across all ethnicities, cultures, gender identities and geographical locations." You can learn more about the All Church Read and engage in prompts and conversations about the book by clicking this link: https://www.ucc.org/all-church-read-invites-people-to-spiritual-practice-of-being-antiracist/
