Hello Union Church Film Group,
“A kingdom for a stage, princes to act, and monarchs to behold.the swelling scene!”
Henry V – From the Prologue
Henry V
A reminder that on Friday May 30th, the next presentation of the Union Church Film Group will be Henry V, directed by and starring Sir Kenneth Branagh as Henry. Also appearing in the film are Sir Derek Jacobi as the Chorus, Dame Emma Thompson as Catherine, Princess of France, Paul Schofield (who turned down a knighthood) as King Charles VI of France, and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) as Sir John Falstaff. We plan, as usual, to have an introduction and play the film at 7:00 pm in the Guild Room.
Henry Vi is two hours and 18 minutes long and has English language subtitles.
As usual, some of us will gather early, around 6:15 pm, to have a “bring your own” snack or meal.
Henry V was nominated for three Academy Awards. Kenneth Branagh was nominated for Best Director and Best Actor for the 1989 film. Phyllis Dawson won the Oscar for Best Costume Design, having won the same award in 1965 for Doctor Zhivago..
“Once more into the breach dear friends, once more.”
